What comes after hubris?
That’s right, tragedy:
- a dramatic composition, often in verse, dealing with a serious or somber theme, typically that of a great person destined through a flaw of character or conflict with some overpowering force, as fate or society, to downfall or destruction.
I think Obama supporters might begin preparing for the natural outplaying of the Greek cycle.
Obama has the hubris well in hand:
Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama’s big speech on Thursday night will be delivered from an elaborate columned stage resembling a miniature Greek temple.
The stage, similar to structures used for rock concerts, has been set up at the 50-yard-line, the midpoint of Invesco Field, the stadium where the Denver Broncos’ National Football League team plays.
Some 80,000 supporters will see Obama appear from between plywood columns painted off-white, reminiscent of Washington’s Capitol building or even the White House, to accept the party’s nomination for president.
He will stride out to a raised platform to a podium that can be raised from beneath the floor.
The catharsis part could get a little ugly . . .

And even still he resents being referred to as a celebrity! He’s begging for it, actually.
I dont think he resents being referd to as a “celebrity”.. I think he is troubled by the fact that once again republicans are avoiding the issues, and trying to side track the American people with a gossip and false fear based campaign.
When the only response from the right to serious issues facing this country are negative, what makes you think they could provide anything but a negitive outcome. Its very clear reading comments like these, that the right is out of ideas, out out of excuses, and out of time.
A person who is truely ready to lead this country would have a real plan and not spout out the same old tired rhetoric we have been hearing for the past 8 years.
Ask John a serious question and your going to get the same thing, a noun, a verb, and “I was a POW”, then his campagin wonks are going to spin a personal attack on Obama.
This is what Obama resents, this is what most of America resents. A leader is not a guy who spent years in a prison camp, came back only to leave his wife after she was in a horrible car accident. A leader is not some Harvard grad Lawyer from chicago. A leader does not make personal chacter attacks on anyone. A leader stands up for what is right, finds a solution and rallies the troops to get it accomplished no matter how hard the path may be.
I only see one person in this race that meets that qualification, and wasnt a POW
TOGA !
TOGA !
TOGA !
Bwaaaahahahaha !!
Hail Caesar!?!?! The arrogance is truly frightening.
I agree Jes, but what are you gonna do, McCain thinks he is owed the presidency, and he has yet to earn it.
But dont forget he was a POW…. and thats about all
[...] was wrong, Obama wasn’t building a Greek temple at Invesco field (although I stand by the hubris, tragedy, and catharsis part) but a replica of [...]
